RJRGleaner Communications Group Digitizes Radio Archive With NOA

AV digitizing and archiving specialist NOA GmbH has expanded its vast international footprint into the Caribbean region with the recent delivery of a complete end-to-end audio archive workflow system consisting of NOARecord, N7000c audio hardware unit and a jobDB workflow management system to RJRGleaner Communications Group in Jamaica.

The Kingston-based group, which boasts an impressive portfolio of electronic, print and digital media brands, including Television Jamaica Ltd. (TVJ), The Gleaner, RJR 94FM, The Star, Power 106FM, Fame 95FM, Hitz 92FM, Music 99FM, 1spotmedia, Real Jamaican Television (RETV), Jamaica News Network (JNN) and TVJ Sports Network (TVJSN), took delivery of NOA’s cutting-edge archiving tools to digitize its entire radio archive.

Due to travel restrictions, NOA sent the units to RJRGleaner Communications Group and then installed and trained station staff remotely. The group has been using the new systems since beginning if the year 2022.

Thanks to NOA’s innovative technology, we’ve greatly increased the efficiency of our digitization process. The N7000c is flexible and allows for remote controls of various players, which has simplified our daily tasks. Together with NOARecord and JobDB, the entire setup has effectively transitioned us toward a state-of-the art and cost-efficient archive management workflow.
said Michael P. Henlin, Chief Technology Officer at RJRGleaner Communications Group.

In combination with the N7000c audio hardware, NOARecord offers an advanced set of features and functionalities. Its intuitive operation permits the operator to concentrate on keeping the tape machines running and to intervene as required in the case of diverging conditions. NOARecord’s algorithmic tracing function reliably indicates these abnormalities, such as deviating Azimuth, by constantly analyzing the incoming signal for inconsistencies. Newly installed AutoCut automatically merges recording snippets in the background that need to be stopped, checked (e.g. splice repair, head cleaning), rewound and restarted with the benefit of transitioning tedious editing tasks to an automated process.

The JobDB workflow orchestration system combines any kind and number of audio/video ingest stations and server-side tools into an effective industrial digitization facility. It connects audio (and video) capture, quality control, and other client workstations as well as server-side tools and transforms them into an efficient industrial digitization facility. In addition, JobDB allows the setup of processes for capturing, reshaping, and analysis of media as required for archiving, transcoding, or other complex business processes. It integrates automatic, semiautomatic, and manual or instructive process steps in a well-defined and complex process flow.

We are really happy to be able to increase our footprint in the LATAM region. The possibility to deliver complete products and workflows without engaging in travel costs due to the pandemic is probably one of the best proof of future international sales with no boundaries.
said Christophe Kummer, Managing Partner of NOA.
