Our History

2000-2004

NOA was founded in January 2000 by Peter Kuhnle, Marcus Krämer and Christophe Kummer.

From the very start, the company’s main focus and area of expertise was the transition from analogue to digital content, aptly reacting to a growing demand from many legacy archive owners at the time. With the analogue era coming to an end, the decreasing availability of proprietary player hardware and the continuing deterioration of physical audio and video carriers in legacy archives, has forced many companies to make the brave and smart decision to initiate the inevitable digitization process as soon as possible.

2005-2010

Thanks to a great product-market fit, the family of products quickly grew from single purpose software applications to what is today one of the most powerful digitization automation frameworks in the multimedia archive market – the jobDB, actLINE and ingestLINE product families.

As more and more organizations began to be aware of the importance and responsibilities of owning and maintaining digital file archives, NOA decided in 2005 to close the gap with its highly specialized and versatile Archive Asset Management system – mediARC.

2011-2015

Starting in 2008, NOA has developed mass migration workflows for video digitization, and by 2010 started to develop standard products for video ingest and video transcoding. By taking this important and much anticipated step, NOA has become a true multimedia solutions’ provider open to the entire global broadcasting market.

In order to keep up with the ever-changing market, NOA started to open up its main frameworks to 3rd party integrations, which resulted in a huge boost of market adoption.

2016-2020

To fill one of the last gaps in its product portfolio, NOA has introduced a series of single station ingest systems that bring professional high-quality audio- and video ingest closer to small and medium size archives, or enable on-demand expansion of already existing digitization operations of large institutions.

Experience from the ever-growing number of digitization and archive facilities powered by NOA all around the world is used to design and develop new generations of products…
