NOA technology in place at MDPI, USA

Digitization service provider memnon to utilize NOA solutions for large-scale digitization of audio archive.

NOA technology has been installed at the heart of one of the largest cultural and academic archiving projects in the USA – the Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative (MDPI) at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. More than half a million objects identified by experts as historically significant and valuable for research are held in obsolescent formats in rapidly deteriorating condition.
Over the next five years these assets will be gathered from the Bloomington campus, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and other IU locations and digitised to futureproof file-based storage in a project managed for IU by Memnon Archiving Services.

Memnon Archiving Services will use a high-performance NOA installation comprising two 4-channel NOARecord systems, as well as one 8-channel MediaLector system, as well as the migration planning tool jobDB, the transcoder MediaButler and DBScripter for various scripting tasks for archiving IU’s audio assets. The NOA installation is integrated with Memnon’s own media management system.
