Specifically, the broadcaster’s data-migration process involves the digitization and transfer of its existing legacy repository — approximately 320,000 legacy audio carriers and 100,000 CDs — to the NOA mediARC archive asset management framework. In addition, BNR will be utilizing the NOA Record ingest system, the N7000c audio ingest frontend, NOA CD Lector, and the mediARCWEB visual content browser application.
BNR’s IT Director Andrey Petrenko explains that the main objective of the project is to guarantee the conservation of irreplaceable content, as well as to allow for easy future access of this newly digitized legacy material, all through the application of Open Archival Information System (OAIS) principles.
As a comprehensive Archive Asset Management (AAM) solution, NOA´s mediARC system implements a variety of OAIS principles to secure long-term archiving within dedicated business processes. Our decision to upgrade BNR’s existing system with NOA ingest and AAM technology will allow us to achieve seamless business continuity for our long-term archiving tasks.

With recent installations in Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and United Arab Emirates, NOA mediARC has gained a strong base of users in both broadcasting and institutional archiving. Providing customers with structured and flexible high-performance content management that will last for decades, mediARC allows access to a deep level of the database and makes it easy to create extremely specific business procedures using intricate and sophisticated workflows.
We are delighted to assist BNR in the modernization of its management processes and to optimize staff efficiency and archiving results. The NOA know-how and systems bring benefits to the broadcaster, which include proficient audio ingest methods, a dedicated archive business process, and the ability to manage various production platforms through open standards and interfaces — all this with standard IT technology.
