Specifically, the broadcaster’s data-migration process involves the digitization and transfer of its existing legacy repository — approximately 320,000 legacy audio carriers and 100,000 CDs — to the NOA mediARC archive asset management framework. In addition, BNR will be utilizing the NOA Record ingest system, the N7000c audio ingest frontend, NOA CD Lector, and the mediARCWEB visual content browser application.
BNR’s IT Director Andrey Petrenko explains that the main objective of the project is to guarantee the conservation of irreplaceable content, as well as to allow for easy future access of this newly digitized legacy material, all through the application of Open Archival Information System (OAIS) principles.
