BitProof is a NOA-exclusive, built-in method for immediate detection of interstitial errors, which typically show themselves as distinct clicks, buffer swaps, or mutes distributed randomly in the final audio recording.
Rather than identifying errors post-recording and subsequently having to repeat the ingest process on a system that initially generated the error, BitProof promptly halts an ongoing recording upon the occurrence of an error.
This enables the operator to swiftly pinpoint the source of the error without delay, facilitating a seamless process to reinitiate the recording immediately thereafter.
BitProof generates a CRC checksum within the DSP of the N7000c audio interface, transmitting it independently to the workstation. Concurrently, the recording software NOARecord generates another CRC when saving the file to the hard disk. This secondary checksum is subsequently compared to the initial checksum created within the DSP. If any discrepancies are detected, recording halts immediately, facilitating prompt investigation into potential path errors.
With this method, interstitial errors, which typically show themselves as distinct clicks, buffer swaps or mutes distributed randomly in the final audio recording, can be avoided completely.
For all types of audio carriers, general and carrier specific quality control measures are gathered during transfer. Results are available already during a running recording as clear error markers or warnings, enabling operators to immediately react, saving valuable time during archiving. Markers may also be forwarded to a subsequent QC step or be saved with the essence file on a MAM system.

Algorithmic traces illustrate a complete analysis of events along the recorded audio file. Those traces, as well as all quality related events, are directly linked to the audio file and behave in the NOA players as zoom-able and linked information to give – also and especially in an asynchronous parallel transfer – an immediate overview of the quality of the audio file no matter which carrier has been ingested.
This quality-related information – collected at the moment of ingest – is then stored in the Pico, jobDB or mediARC process environments, allowing for both a centralized quality assessment and export from the workflow system to mediARC or to a foreign MAM system.

With digital de-emphasis, the choice of the correct de-emphasis curve for transferring historical disc recordings becomes a non-issue. NOARecord allows free configuration of first-order filter curves (such as RIAA, Blumlein, Columbia, etc.) that are applied in real-time during recording.
The subsequent automatic annotation of filter characteristics simplifies file handling and streamlines the workflow for archivists. Storing filter coefficients in the header of a BWF file ensures precise reversibility for potential future corrections.
